...planning lessons for tomorrow for my long-term sub position that has now been extended 4times with no idea when it is going to end at this point. I’m teaching a grade level (Gr. 1-4) and subject (Math) I’m not used to, nor trained for (there is a severe shortage of substitutes here at the moment!), so feeling a little stressed, to say the least.

Somehow I find myself listening to JPop (thank you James May’s Cars Of The People [the background music during the Suzuki Wagon R scene in Season 1, Ep 2 was what started it])

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Was listening to Fair To Midland - Pour The Coal To ‘Er 5 minutes before that. Yes, I’m weird.

Wish me luck....I just want to get this stuff done and go to bed.

Hey at least you’ve still got a full time gig, sounds like this might work itself into a permant job one day.

So around these parts, once you work more then than half a year, you get paid as a full timer. How about for you?

We have a sub shortage too. We’re constantly using our plan periods to cover for other teachers. At least we get paid for it.

Both things happen here similarly....if covering other people’s preps, you get paid the extra time. Pay grades bump up for however long you are in that position as well.

I don’t think it will become permanent, even if it did, I am not sure I would want the position. I will know more by the time I am done, yes, but I’m still not fond of teaching a subject I never studied in my BEd, (nor a subject I enjoy!).

Oh for sure, it’s just one of those positions you somewhat dread to go to every morning, at least for me...not that I don’t love the kids. It’s just that it’s not my level/subject and I feel out of place.
